Train Derailment Injures Two, Sparks Raging Fire
COLUMBUS — Two people were injured on Wednesday morning when a freight train jumped the track in Columbus, resulting in a raging fire, WBNS reported.
It happened near North Grant Avenue and East 11th Avenue, prompting evacuations within a one mile radius.
Early reports indicated there were 11 cars off the rails and two of the cars were burning.
The flames were also spreading to nearby wooded areas.
Firefighters and Hazmat crews were on scene, but it was unclear what chemicals were involved.
The response teams were having a difficult time getting close to the fire because it was so powerful.
Locals were also warned to stay away from the dangerous scene.
