GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio – Garfield Mall has a new owner and will get a new name, Garfield Commons.  The Glimcher Group purchased the 250,000 square foot shopping center which is currently anchored by Marc’s, Big Lots and Save-A-Lot.

“Years ago, this center was one of the premier shopping centers in the Cleveland area; primarily because of its great access to the neighborhood of Garfield Heights and surrounding communities. The demographics are very strong and we look forward returning Garfield Commons to the first class community shopping center it once was,” said Craig Polard, Director of Leasing for The Glimcher Group.

“City officials are hopeful improvements will be made to update the appearance of the center,” said Mayor Vic Collova.  “The new property owners have said they are committed to renovating the decades old shopping center and adding new tenants. There is a great need for façade and parking lot repairs, so we are pleased that the Glimcher Group has plans to make them.”

Immediate plans for renovation include building new pylon signs at the shopping center’s two main entrances, facade improvements, and extensive parking lot repairs.
