Sheriff Confirms Andy Griffith’s Death; Releases Family Statement

DARE COUNTY, North Carolina- Dare County Sheriff Doug Doughtie confirmed the death of Andy Griffith Tuesday morning.

Sheriff Doughtie told WITN News Andy’s family said he died peacefully in his home at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Griffith has been laid to rest on his beloved Roanoke Island.

Andy Griffith was 86.
