MILFORD, Conn. (CTNow) — Three suspected drug dealers checked out of their hotel room on Old Gate Lane on Thursday, leaving behind $50,000 worth of heroin, police said.

Employees at the Hilton Garden Inn found the heroin while cleaning the room and called police.

Investigators seized 3.5 ounces of heroin and an additional 7.6 ounces that was packaged in 508 wax folds, with some of the heroin still in solid form, police said. Investigators also seized packaging materials, cutting agents, strainers and scales.

Lake and Jefferson were charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, operating a drug factory, possession of drug paraphernalia and conspiracy.

Reid charged with conspiracy to possess narcotics, conspiracy to possess narcotics with intent to sell, conspiracy to operate a drug factory and conspiracy to possess drug paraphernalia.

Lake, Jefferson and Reid were held on $250,000 bonds and were to be arraigned Thursday at Superior Court in Milford. Lake also was found to be in violation of his parole conditions and was taken into custody by police.
