Police: Man Robbed Drive-Thru Customers of $5

AKRON, Ohio — An Akron man is facing the possibility of eight-years in prison coupled with a $15,000 fine, all for allegedly robbing two individuals of $5.

According to Akron Police, Shawn Michael Cook, 31, of Akron, was booked into the Summit County Jail at 2:59 a.m. Monday morning following his weekend arrest for robbery.

Police say Cook approached the alleged victims’ vehicle at the Burger King, located at 671 East Market Street, while they were getting food.

Police say Cook reached down into his waistband, as if he was retrieving some sort of weapon, and then robbed the victims in the vehicle of $5.00.

Police caught up to Cook a short time later and he was taken into custody. He was charged with robbery, a second-degree felony.

According to Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh’s office, a second degree felony carries the potential penalty of 2 – 8 years in prison and up to a $15,000 fine.

According to his court docket, Cook had an initial court appearance on Monday morning and remains held in the Summit County Jail.
