Vehicles Fried in Turnpike Car Carrier Fire

ELYRIA, Ohio — A number of vehicles were destroyed on Tuesday when a car carrier traveling the Ohio Turnpike caught fire.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the carrier was headed westbound near Exit 145.

The flames were put out by 8:30 a.m. and the driver escaped unharmed.

Although crews remained on scene for a time afterward, traffic continued to move through the area as the road was not closed.

The cause of the fire and extent of the damage was not known at the time of this report.
