Lorain Police: ‘Reese’s Cup Bandit’ Strikes Again
LORAIN, Ohio — Police in Lorain are on the hunt for a candy bar thief.
“Yesterday, the Sunoco Station on Oberlin Avenue reported to us that a man came into the store with a hood over his head, picked up a box of Reese’s Cups and walked out. The clerk tried to stop him but he got past,” said Lt. Mark Carpentiere, with the Lorain Police Department.
And this is not the first time the ‘Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Bandit’ has struck.
In fact, police say he’s stolen up to $600 worth of Reece’s Cups from the same store in the past.
“He’s been coming into the store for months. He comes in, picks up boxes of Reese’s Cups and walks out,” added Lt. Carpentiere.
Across the street from the Sunoco, Happy’s Pizza Shop was relieved to hear the thief prefers sugar instead of salt.
“I hope we don’t have any other robberies around here in Lorain. Since we’re here at Happy’s Pizza,” said manager Hend Abro.
“I think it’s crazy! Something must be wrong with him to snatch 600 dollars worth of Reese’s Cups. That’s a lot of Reese’s Cups,” laughed Theo Cooper, of Lorain.
In the meantime, police are hoping someone will recognize the candy thief from the surveillance video before his sweet tooth strikes again.
“Personally, I don’t think it’s worth it. You wanna go to jail over a Reese’s Cup? Not me!” laughed Shanteia Mosley, of Lorain.
Anyone with information regarding the robberies is encouraged to contact the Lorain Police Department.
