WASHINGTON — The city of Cleveland was denied its bid for a Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) Grant Tuesday.

Funds from the grant were to be used in the construction of the second Innerbelt Bridge.

Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich released the following statement following the denial:

“While disappointing, the decision is not surprising.  Efforts to ensure the rapid construction of the Innerbelt Bridge do not hinge on the TIGER Grant. The TIGER Grant was a good avenue that we pursued strongly, but it was not the only option. We are continuing to pursue all options and remain committed to building the second Innerbelt Bridge on schedule,” said Kucinich.
