Prayers for Roger: Stefani’s Update (6/18)
Stefani Schaefer shared new signs of progress as her husband recovers from an April accident during which he fell 12 feet off scaffolding while working at a construction site.
Read the update in Stefani’s own words below, as it was posted on her Facebook fan page.
On Sunday, she posted this message:
“Hope all the DADS are enjoying their Father’s Day. Hope it’s Extra Special. I wanted to update you on what’s going on here. Thursday, I picked up Siena from dance and she had an ice pack on her head. I was just sick. She was on a stack of mats and fell and hit her forehead – she had a big goose egg on her head. I took her to the hospital to get checked out. Since she had a concussion three years ago and with everything going on with Roger, I just needed piece of mind. They did a full neuro exam and a CT Scan to rule out any bleeding. The CT scan was negative. Thank GOD. I couldn’t believe it – and was just stressed beyond belief. She had a good night’s rest and is doing great now. Today and yesterday, the kids went with me to visit Roger. We all felt so good, because Roger mouthed “Hi Buddy” to Race… that’s what he calls him. We were so excited because when I point to the kids in pictures sometimes he shakes his head as though he doesn’t know who they are. I really felt this weekend that he does. He really smiled at them a lot too. Also, since Roger’s accident, I’ve been wearing his wedding ring on a necklace all the time. I gave him his ring last week and he didn’t seem like he knew what to do with it. Yesterday I gave his ring to him and he immediately put it on his ring finger and smiled. We all cried with joy! Roger still has such a long way to go… but now everyday we see amazing progress. It’s the little things that blow us away. I marvel at the strength my children have through all of this. When I feel sad and down and sometimes experience those moments of hopelessness, they breath new life into me with their faith and belief that Roger will come back to us. He just HAS to. God is so good… all the time. Thank you for your prayers… they are working… every single day! Blessings and hugs.”
