Man Sentenced Jail Time for Shooting, Killing Dog

WILLOUGHBY, Ohio — A man accused of opening fire on a neighbor’s pet black Labrador is headed to jail.

A judge sentenced Brent Parker, 26, to 45 days in jail for shooting and killing the dog last November. According to a complaint, Parker killed the dog, named Thai, with a .22-caliber Ruger from his backyard. The 13-year-old Lab belonged to Dave Davison, who found the animal’s body the morning following the shooting.

A jury found Parker guilty on a cruelty against companion animals charge and another for pointing and discharging a weapon in Kirtland. He will also serve time on probation.

Parker previously plead not guilty to both charges and waved his right to a speedy trial.
