CLEVELAND — A cab driver was being treated at the hospital for a gunshot wound to the leg.

According to the Cleveland Division of Police, the victim was found near Cleveland’s East 70th Street and Central Avenue around 2 a.m. on Monday.

A police report stated the driver picked up two men at the casino downtown and drove them to a home in the 2100 block of E. 70th Street.

They allegedly told the driver they would return with the fare, but when they didn’t, he got out of the vehicle to find them.

That’s when three men wearing masks and carrying guns jumped out of nearby bushes and told the cab driver not to move.

Shots were fired when he started to run away, police said.

Three shell casings were found.

The driver was hit once in the upper thigh of his left leg.

He will be treated and released.
