First Model Apple Computer Sells for $374,500

(CNN) – An Apple original sold for $374,500 at a Sotheby’s New York auction.

The 1976 Apple I computer was part of the first batch of personal computers sold by Apple founders Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs.

Two potential buyers battled for the exceedingly-rare device before it was sold to an anonymous telephone bidder.  

The final price was double the original high estimate of $180,000.
