Fisherman Catches Rare Blue Lobster
CNN Wire
A Novia Scotia man captured a rare find last month, a blue lobster.
Bobby Stoddard says he and his crew caught the crustacean in May and the blue lobster is the first he has ever seen in his 33-years as a fisherman.
According to the University of Maine Lobster Institute, blue lobsters are a one-in-two-million phenomenon.
The crustaceans turn blue because of a genetic variation.
Stoddard offered his find to a nearby ocean research institute, but they didn’t want it. He also tried selling it online but says he got some strange calls and emails.
Right now, the lobster is cooling its claws in a holding tank until Stoddard can decide what to do with it.
