Man Arrested After SWAT Standoff In Shaker Heights

SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio — A man is in custody after a standoff at an apartment building in Shaker Heights Saturday.

Police and SWAT units stormed the building at 3333 Warrensville Center Road shortly after 6 p.m. The 61-year old was said to have been armed, and barricaded himself in an apartment after a domestic dispute with his wife.

SWAT team members eventually located the man in a vacant apartment on the second floor around 11:00 p.m.

He was arrested and is currently in custody with the Ashtabula County Sherriff’s Department.

All residents in the six story building had to be evacuated during the search.

Police blocked off traffic around the 3300 block of Warrensville Center Road and urged motorists to avoid the area.

The road has since reopened to traffic.
