Akron Police say a customer inside a sandwich shop stopped a robbery on Tuesday evening.

According to the Akron Police website, just after 5:00 p.m., Crystal Y. Tatum, 46, of Oakdale Avenue, entered the Mr. Hero Restaurant, located at 484 West Market Street, and attempted to rob the restaurant and customers.

Police say Tatum had her hand under her shirt as she entered the restaurant, pretending to be carrying a gun.

According to witnesses Tatum yelled, “This is a robbery, give me all of your money!”

Tatum then allegedly shoved a customer as she walked to the counter. As she was standing at the counter another customer in the restaurant tackled Tatum to the ground and held her until police arrived.

Tatum has been charged with aggravated robbery and was booked into the Summit County jail.
