AKRON, Ohio — Whether you’re fleet of foot or simply like to go with the flow, the Akron’s Children’s Hospital wants you taking part in their 27th annual Kids Are #1 Run and Family Fun Day on June 3rd.

Family events kick off at 11:00 a.m. in Perkins Square Park at Akron Children’s Hospital.

The first running event, the Miracle Mile, begins at 1:00 p.m. and is intended for competitive runners capable of running less than an 8-minute mile.

The Fun Run, a one-mile, non-competitive run for all ages, walkers and runners, will begin at 1:15 p.m., followed by a competitive 5K Run through downtown Akron and Glendale Cemetery.

But this day of fun and exercise isn’t just for animals of the two legged variety.

Dog owners and their canine companions can join Akron Children’s Doggie Brigade for Paws for a Cause, a one-mile, non-competitive run/walk, at 2:30 p.m. Canine participants will receive a run scarf.

Awards will be presented to the first place male and female Miracle Mile runners. First, second and third place 5K runners for each age group will also receive awards.

Pre-registration ends May 30 and participants can register by clicking here. Participants may register up to 15 minutes before the start of each of the four races.

The Fun Run and Miracle Mile cost $10 per person and the 5K Run and Paws for a Cause cost $15 per person. Registration fees increase on the day of the race.
