KENT, Ohio — Three local high school students were seriously hurt in a one-car crash Thursday afternoon in Kent.

It happened just before 3 p.m. on River Bend Boulevard.

Kent Fire Lt. David Moore said a car carrying three teen girls from Kent Roosevelt High School lost control, then rolled over before coming to a rest on its wheels.

Moore said two of the teens had to be extricated from the vehicle as they were still trapped when firefighters arrived. The third teen was ejected from the car.

Two of the girls were taken by ambulance to Akron City Hospital and Akron Children’s Hospital. Moore said the third was flown by LifeFlight to an unknown hospital.

All three girls suffered serious injuries, although Moore did not reveal the exact nature.

Further details, including the students’ identities, were not immediately released.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
