LAKEMORE, Ohio — Many people living in Lakemore should continue boiling their water before using it, a spokesperson for the Summit County village’s Department of Public Services tells Fox 8 News.

The boil alert was first established on Tuesday. It applies to customers east of Canton Road.

The boil alert had been scheduled to expire today, but officials were forced to extend it until 4 p.m. Friday.

Authorities with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency say that, as of late Thursday morning, water had been restored, but additional bacteria samples would need to be tested.

The disruption of service was instigated when a water valve slammed shut as hydrants were being flushed in the Brittany Pointe allotment on Tuesday.
