MEREDIEN, Connecticut - It's no secret gas prices are rising nationwide. But on Saturday, for one hour, a Connecticut church decided to help out locals who are feeling the pinch at the pump.

Hundreds lined up to fill up at the Gulf Station on East Main Street, where gas was being sold for just $2.99 thanks to The New Life Church.

In all, just over 1,300 gallons of gas were pumped in the one hour time frame the deal was being offered. There was a 20-gallon limit with no one being allowed to fill gas cans.

"Gas prices being as they are, with no signs of slowing up, we thought it would be a great Happy Easter present," said Pastor of New Life Church, Will Mariotti.
