(CNN) A new study suggests red meat makes you happy.
Scientists at Deakin University in Australia found that women who ate less than the recommended amount of beef were twice as likely to be diagnosed with depression or anxiety.
Researchers took into account the patient’s diet, weight, age, physical activity and socioeconomic status and the result remained the same.
Scientists involved in the study say there was no relationship between other forms of protein, such as chicken or fish, and mental health.
But don’t pig out on pigs and their farm friends.
Researchers say eating more than the recommended amount of red meat also increased depression and anxiety.
