Howard Wins Ohio’s Gatorade Award

The awards just keep on coming in for Twinsburg star hoopster Malina Howard.

The senior has already been selected to play in two prestigious post season All American games. On Thursday it was announced Howard was selected as the Ohio Player of the Year by Gatorade.

By being chosen for the Buckeye state, the 6’4″ post player is now in the running for the Gatorade National Player of The Year Award.

Her season is ramping up. The Twinsburg girls basketball team is on a pace to once again make a trip down to the State Final Four where they won a championship last season. The Lady Tigers will play Solon Friday in the Regional final.

Howard, who will play for Maryland next season is averaging nearly 18 points a game and pulling down 10 boards per contest.

The Gatorade award recognizes excellence in athletics, academics and character.

Howard has a 4.29 grade-point average. She has been selected to play in the McDonald’s and Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s All American games.
