CHARDON, Ohio --  A grieving Chardon community came together again on Tuesday.

This time, it was to support the family and friends of 16-year-old Demetrius Hewlin.

Demetrius' life was remembered by loved ones during funeral services at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chardon.

"Sad, but it was a nice service.  And the community is just so helpful and so strong around here," said Yolanda Davis, Demetrius' step-aunt.

Demetrius died one week ago, the day after police said a student opened fire inside Chardon High School.

"It's a great thing for everyone to come out and support the family.  And the friends.   And the kids from school," added Davis.

Classes are in session at Chardon High School, however, students said that the school gave them permission to leave class with parental consent to attend Demetrius' funeral.

"I had lunch with Demetrius, more than one year.  It was always fun," said Steven Laubenthal, a classmate.

Demetrius was one of three students killed in the Chardon shootings.

Danny Parmertor, 16,  was buried Saturday.

Russell King, Jr., 17, will be buried Thursday.

"With most tragedies, it takes months for schools.  To be back in school in less than a week was amazing.  And not even a fifty-percent turnout.  More than ninety-percent of our student body is in there," said Laubenthal.

Demetrius' funeral comes just two days before his 17th birthday.

Hewlin's mother asked that everyone light a candle for him on Thursday.

Instead of smiles, there are tears as his body was taken to his final resting place.

"It's just been real hard on everybody.  He was just a good kid, outgoing, talked a lot.   It's just sad," cried Davis.

Demetrius was buried at All Souls Cemetery, the same place where Danny Parmertor was buried Saturday.

Hundreds turned out for Hewlin's visitation service at Burr Funeral Home on Monday.

Calling hours for King will be held Wednesday from 2-7 p.m., also at Burr.

His funeral will occur on Thursday at 10 a.m., also inside the Church of St. Mary.

T.J. Lane, 17, has been charged with three counts of aggravated murder in the boys' deaths.

He appeared in Geauga County Juvenile Court on Tuesday where a judge set a probable cause hearing for April 3.
