Russell King’s Death Ruled Homicide

CLEVELAND, Ohio —

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner has ruled on the death of 17-year-old Russell King, Jr., one of three victims killed in Monday’s shooting at Chardon High School.

Dr. Thomas Gilson on Thursday ruled King’s death a homicide, stating that he had died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Chardon police say 17-year-old T.J. Lane stormed the school Monday morning and opened fire on several students, injuring two of them and killing three. Daniel Parmertor, 16, and 16-year-old Demetrius Hewlin also died in the attack.

Lane on Thursday was charged with three counts of aggravated murder, two counts of attempted aggravated murder and one count of felonious assault. He’ll appear in Geauga County Juvenile Court on March 6.
