VERMILION, Ohio --
Firefighters in Erie County spent much of Sunday afternoon battling a blaze at a farm in Vermilion.
Officials say a building at Robert Maurer Farm on Haber Road burst into flames at around 1 p.m. The blaze reportedly started on the west side of the structure, and spread very quickly.
Within moments, smoke and flames were pouring from the roof. But with the closest fire hydrant more than a quarter of a mile away, crews from many surrounding communities had to be called in for extra water supply.
Luckily, no one was injured.
Vermilion Fire Department Chief Frank Triana told Fox 8 News that the building would be demolished.
