The jackpot for the next Powerball drawing will be in excess of $300 million after no players matched all of the winning numbers last night.

The estimated jackpot for Saturday’s drawing is already at $310 million. That would make it the fifth biggest prize in Powerball history, ranking it among the top 15 biggest lotto jackpots ever.

Powerball is a multistate, shared-jackpot lottery game currently played in 44 jurisdictions.

The cost to play Powerball recently doubled from $1 to $2. In the drawings since the price hike, there has been “a big jump in prize dollars,” according to the Powerball website.

The odds of winning the grand prize are 1 in 175 million.
