LAKEWOOD, Ohio — If you’re dreading Valentines and all the public displays of affection it brings, you may just love “Valentines? . . . Schmalentines!”

“Valentines? . . . Schmalentines!” is an art show at the Breakneck Art Gallery, located at 17020 Madison Ave. in Lakewood.

The gallery owners say the show displays “the humorous, jaded, and hated sides of love and the often dreaded Valentine’s Day.”

The show is composed of artwork created by numerous local artists.

The show’s opening reception is Saturday, February 11 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

There will be food and drinks at the reception, as well as a live performance by local musician Joshua Jesty starting at 7:30 p.m.

An after party (for people age 21 and older) will take place next door to the gallery at Mullens on Madison, 17014 Madison Ave. in Lakewood.

Don’t worry if you can’t make the opening reception, you can still see the art show, which runs through March 3.

If you think this show may be for you, read the following funny statement from the gallery’s Web site:

“If you want to give that stupid little baby Cupid an atomic wedgie every February 14th, drag your bitter old buns down to Breakneck Gallery and snark it up with the best of em. (happy couples welcome too….just don’t rub it in).”
