CLEVELAND— Cleveland State University is trying to calm fears after a female student reported being groped on Wednesday.

The student reported the incident happened in an elevator of the main classroom building on campus. She described the attacker as being a man in his mid-30s.

The University is telling all students to stay alert, be aware of their surroundings and to walk with a friend whenever possible.

“It’s not safe. They should have security out here or something. It is not safe,” one student said. Another said, “I mean, honestly, I’ve never seen any threats around. But I think it is pretty disgusting that someone would do that, and I generally feel safe, but apparently they don’t have it under control.”

Cleveland State offers a free safety escort service on and around campus. The service is available 24-hours a day.
