SOLON, Ohio— Solon Police are investigating after a woman was allegedly robbed as she left her garage in Liberty Hills last Friday.
Police say the 57-year-old woman was cornered then chased by two men as she started walking to her apartment on Hamilton Court.
"They both grabbed her and threw her to the ground. One of the males started to punch her and kick her in the arm until she released her purse," said Sgt. J.C. Cabot with the Solon Police Department.
Police said a nearby neighbor heard the woman's cries for help and called 911.
"I heard this screaming because I was in the restroom," the caller explained. "I thought it might have been my TV because I was watching Criminal Minds. And then I came out of my restroom, and I was like, I still heard someone screaming!"
According to the police report, the two men took off and headed east, possibly to a black SUV that was spotted heading toward 91.
They managed to get away with the woman's purse, which contained about $500 dollars in cash, as well as a checkbook and credit cards.
Neighbors who live next door to the victim are on alert.
"She knocked on our door and warned us to be careful, because we get home pretty late," said Lynn Nelson, who lives next door.
Meantime, police are hoping the victim's stolen cash and credit cards lead them to the suspects.
"The victim does own a restaurant and we're not exactly sure if the suspects knew her, how much money she had, or if it was random," added Sgt. Cabot.
"It worries me a little bit, when you hear something like that. We moved out here because it's a nice area and considering what happened, it could happen anywhere, but you still don't want it happening in your neighborhood," added Nelson.
The victim was taken to an area hospital and released.
Solon Police are asking that anyone with information contact them.
