The Tallmadge Police Department is helping take down online predators.  The department has joined  the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The Ohio ICAC Task Force is comprised of Ohio prosecuting attorneys, sheriffs and chiefs of police, along with state and federal authorities, who work to arrest and prosecute online predators.

“Chief Zesiger’s participation in the Ohio ICAC Task Force will help protect children,” said Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason. “This addition will increase public awareness of this serious risk to our children and give predators one less place in Ohio they can hide. From community education to conducting investigations, the Tallmadge Police Department will be able to make strides to protect the children of Summit County and of Ohio.”

The Ohio ICAC says through social networking sites, cell phones and web cameras, children can unknowingly put themselves in danger. Law enforcement is working to educate the public about  consequences of a child making a bad decision.
