The nighttime is the right time for Fox 8’s Tracy McCool!

After co-anchoring Fox 8 News In The Morning for eight years, Tracy has been named the new anchor for Fox 8 News at 5 p.m. and Fox 8 News at 10 p.m.

The announcement was made on Tuesday. After being informed of the decision, one of her first responses was, “I get to sleep in.”

Tracy replaces Stacey Bell, who left after 13 years to be with her husband Anthony Lynn in the New York metropolitan area. Lynn is on the coaching staff of the New York Jets. He and Stacey met while he was coaching for the Cleveland Browns.

Before her successful run on Cleveland’s favorite morning show, Tracy was a Fox 8 News producer and Studio 8 bureau chief. She then transitioned to on-air work with stints in Erie, Pa., and Columbus, Ohio, before coming back home to Fox 8 in 2000.

WJW President and General Manager Greg Easterly issued the following statement on Tuesday afternoon:

Tracy McCool is such a talented and special person with a great story. She grew up watching Channel 8 just down the road at her family home in Copley, Ohio. Tracy started here as an intern and quickly worked her way up the ranks to producer. She dreamed of being a Fox 8 News anchor, but knew she had to earn her stripes in some smaller markets. Tracy got more experience in Columbus and Erie, and worked her way back home to WJW as our Akron Bureau reporter and then co-anchor of the top-rated Fox 8 News In The Morning. Now, her hard work, dedication and loyalty have made that dream come true as the prime-time anchor of Fox 8 News at 5 and 10 p.m. We’re all very proud and happy for Tracy. Her’s is truly a “Cleveland’s Own” success story that all of northeast Ohio can appreciate.

Congratulations, Tracy!
